This Justin Bieber concert story reminds me of my first concert. Many of the friends I grew up with went to an NKOTB or Tiffany concert as they found their own musical tastes. My first concert was a Phil Collins concert. My mom and dad took the entire family to the Hartford Civic Center (now the XL Center) to see him . I don't think I was old enough to appreciate his musical genius at the time. I just remember thinking it was cheesy and that he wasn't a cool artist to see as a teen or pre-teen.
Since then, I haven't been to many concerts. I went to a Killers concert a few years ago with some friends in Dallas. In Montana, I got to see a few concerts for free at the Montana State Fair. My sister, Heather, is really into concerts though and goes to one every month it seems.
My fondest childhood concert memories are from the free shows our parents would take us to at the Manchester Band Shell. We'd go several times each summer. Bring a blanket and sit and listen to the music. I can still remember the smell of the grass. Maybe I'm getting nostalgic because I'm going to visit my family next week to spend a weekend at the Cape. I'm really looking forward to it. Meanwhile, instead of Bieber, I'll take Phil Collins any day.
