CHEEKTOWAGA, NY- Dr. James Corasanti, convicted of misdemeanor DWI last year for an accident that claimed the life of an Amherst teen, was himself the victim of an alleged drunk driver Thursday morning.
The accident happened shortly after 11 AM on the Kensington Expressway eastbound at the Thruway.
Cheektowaga Police say Corasanti was a passenger in a car rear-ended by a 17-year-old girl with a blood alcohol level of .17. The teen, who was not injured, is facing charges of DWI, reckless driving and other vehicle and traffic violations.
Dr. Corasanti complained of back pain and was taken by a friend to Buffalo General Hospital. The driver of the car he was riding in, Jodie Clark, 51, suffered a head injury and was taken by ambulance to ECMC.
Corasanti was behind the wheel of a car that struck and killed Amherst teenager Alix Rice back in July, 2011.
While this was happening, a motion hearing was being held before the start of the civil trial against Dr. Corasanti.
