LACKAWANNA, NY- Erie County Legislator, Daniel M. Kozub announces that the first in a series of free rabies vaccination clinics for 2010 will be held Wednesday, January 27th. It will take place from 2pm-4pm at the Lake Erie Italian Club located at 3200 South Park Avenue between Ridge Road and Martin Road in the city of Lackawanna.
The Erie County Department of Health, Niagara Frontier Veterinary Society, and the Erie County SPCA will provide the free rabies vaccines.
Legislator Kozub is urging everyone to bring their cat, dog, or any animal in for a vaccination. Erie County Health Commissioner Anthony J. Billittier tells us that animal rabies continues to be a serious public health problem and the upcoming spring only increases our chance of contact.
Any exposure to wild animals, including bites from dogs or cats should be reported immediately to the Erie County Department of Health by calling 961-6800 during the day or 961-7898 during evenings and weekends.
The schedule for the remaining free rabies vaccination clinics will be released in the near future.
