Former U.S. Rep. Eric Massa (D-29th District)
Chautauqua, N.Y. - New York's 29th Congressional seat is about to be up for grabs. On Friday, Congressman Eric Massa announced his resignation from the post, effective Monday.
Massa cited health concerns, but also an ethics probe into allegations he sexually harassed a staff member. A special election will be held to fill his seat.
2 On Your Side caught up with republican state senator, Cathy Young, who represents the Southern Tier. She says she's received calls and emails from constituents asking her to run. Young says at this point, she's not interested.
"We need to turn the state around, get people back to work. Focus on our economy and so although it's very tempting I think at this point I'm going to stick with the state senate because we have to get upstate back at the table."
Republicans have a 42% to 31% enrollment advantage over the Democrats in the 29th Congressional District.
