Buffalo, N.Y. - The outdoor sporting goods giant, Bass Pro, has been dangling its desire to come to Buffalo's waterfront for more than a decade now.
- 2001: Talks of a possible courtship began
- 2004: Bass Pro officially announced it was bringing its 150,000 square foot store to Buffalo's waterfront
- 2009: Old Memorial Auditorium was torn down to make way for the canalside project and Bass Pro; expected to open in 2012
- July 30, 2010: Bass Pro announces it is not coming to Buffalo
Bass Pro was offered $35 million in incentives to bring the 150,000 square foot store to Buffalo. It was expected to bring in 3 million visitors to the Buffalo area annually and create 400 full and part time jobs.
