BUFFALO, N.Y. -- An 18-year-old from Western New York has set the Guinness World Record for her incredible limbo abilities. Shemika Charles was featured on ABC's LIVE with Regis and Kelly, where she set the record on live television.

Shemika Charles has been limbo dancing for four years. She's always dreamed of having her name in the Guinness Record books for demonstrating the lowest limbo.

On the Thursday episode of Live with Regis and Kelly in New York City, Shemika set the record by dipping under a limbo bar that was a mere eight and a half inches off the floor. After some bending and twisting, she was successful.

Officials at Guinness World Records set the date for the contest back in July, and Shemika says waiting until now has been tough, but has had its advantages. "I get more time to prepare and work on my diet," Shemika tells 2 On Your Side.

"I'm extremely excited. I don't think it has hit me yet," said Shemika at the Buffalo Airport before boarding her flight to the Big Apple

Channel 2's Claudine Ewing was in New York City behind the scenes and in the studio when Shemika made history. Watch her exclusive behind-the-scenes story of Shemika Charles.
