ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- Democratic candidate for governor Andrew Cuomo has changed his mind and no longer plans to release his income taxes, breaking an Albany tradition for statewide public officials.

Cuomo, who has campaigned to overhaul Albany's ethics and transparency, released his own summary on April 15. He had said he would release his full form after the extension deadline on Oct. 15.

But after telling reporters for weeks that the forms would be released, Cuomo spokesman Josh Vlasto said Saturday the returns won't be released before Election Day.

Vlasto said there was no need to release them since Paladino hasn't released his taxes, although candidates usually don't.

The tax returns usually released by statewide officials on April 15 can improve transparency in government and show conflicts ofinterest.
