Buffalo, NY - There's no age limit on helping children. You can see proof of that at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Buffalo Masten Club House.

Curtis Gardner, Sr., commonly known as the Rev, volunteers every day. He says, "Our children are our future, and coming here we have an opportunity to catch them before the street catches them."

That's a serious concern according to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Buffalo'sown statistics. The organization serves over 4,000 youth between the ages of 6 and 18. 87% are at risk of becoming involved in the juvenile justice system. Chief Professional Officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo Diane Rowe explains, "They need to have good, strong mentors around them.  They need to have people who care about them, and also know what they're dealing with back in their own communities."

The Rev uses his artistic talents to reach the children and discover their hidden talents. It's a skill that knows no age limit. He hopes his experiences will help motivate the children he mentors along with these lessons; Be true to yourself, be patient and never give up your dreams.

If you would like to contribute like the Rev, contact the Boys and Girls Clubs of Buffalo at 825-1016 and ask for the volunteer coordinator.
The organization does background checks on volunteers for the safety of the children. If you are not interested in working directly working with children, there are other ways you can help.
