BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Governor Andrew Cuomo has promised a billion dollars for Buffalo and the process of deciding how its spent is pretty involved.
Right now, experts from the Brookings Institute among others are advising the council whose job it is to decide how and where the money is spent.
Part of the process is scientific collecting data to help them make their decisions and analyzing opportunities to assure they get the most bang for the buck.
"We're being very thoughtful about it. I know people want, quick, billion dollars, what are you doing with it, how is it being spent, but again, this is one of those once in a lifetime opportunities, let's make sure we make the right decisions," said Christina Orsi with Empire State Development.
Later this month, the regional development council will meet in private in small group round-tables. Then on June 13th, Brookings will meet with the council in a public forum to lay out some of it's findings. They also plan to hold public hearings before the billion dollar investment plan is set in place in the fall.
