Some residents in South Buffalo are upset with what they feel to be the city's inaction over some vacant homes in their neighborhood. So they called 2 On Your Side to seek out help.

Neighbors say in particular,  85 Spaulding Street in the blocks just off South Park has become a very dangerous eyesore. They worry that the boarded up home could collapse or even be set on fire by an arsonist. One woman says the roof has partially collapsed and  bricks from the weakened structure actually toppled through the bedroom window of an adjacent home. No one was injured but they fear there could be more problems.

There are also complaints about rats and debris near the home.

Neighbors question why the home has been allowed to fall into disrepair. Some claim city officials have not responded to their calls.

City Chief Building Inspector Louis Petrucci tells 2 On Your Side that there is a thick file on the property dating back to 2003 when the family let it go for auction. The city went to Housing Court in 2007 and has now sought a legal order for demolition. Petrucci says that because of the conditions 2 On Your Side presented to him, he will request Building and Inspections Commissioner James Comerford to personally look at the structure to see if the demolition process can be expedited.

Neighbors say they will let us know if the home is demolished.
