Caitlin Koch is starring on this season of The X-Factor
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - A Western New Yorker is making a name for herself in the music world. Caitlin Koch recently wowed the judges on one of TV's newest talent shows.
Rehearsing is now part of Caitlin Koch's life. The 21 year-old, 2007 Orchard Park High School graduate wowed judges on last week's The X Factor, Simon Cowell's new musical talent TV show.
Caitlin sang her rendition of, "Stop In The Name of Love," during the show's second episode.
"I really like you a lot," said one of the judges after Caitlin's performance.
"It would be an honor for me to work with you in this competition," another judge said.
Without hesitation, all four judges voted to advance Caitlin to the next round. A scene she has watched over and over since last week.
"It was quite an amazing performance and experience for me," Caitlin said.
Caitlin's dad says his daughter has been singing ever since she was about three when Caitlin wandered over to the church choir where her dad was singing during a service
"What could I do except grab her and put her in my arms and she's been singing ever since," said Ralph Koch, Caitlin's dad.
And if she wins the grand prize, a recording contract and $5 million, she said she's buying her mom a pink Cadillac and some of the money will go to a charity close to her heart.
"My niece passed away in March of this year and she donated all of her organs," said Caitlin.
So if she wins, some that $5 million will go to Donate-Life in honor of her niece.
And she's working hard to make that win possible. Caitlin has tried out for American Idol, was Buffalo's Idol at one point but this is the farthest she has ever got. But win or lose, Caitlin's family just wants her to keep singing.
"She's been blessed with a gift and I'm sure that Caitlin, myself, her mom and the rest of the family would like to see her share that with the rest of the world," said Ralph Koch.
Caitlin says the next round of auditions is a boot camp style concept in Los Angeles.
The X Factor airs Wednesday and Thursday nights on Fox. Caitlin says the show wraps up the season in December.
