BUFFALO, N.Y. - The NFTA has had a foothold on Buffalo's waterfront for 55 years, after purchasing nearly 400 acres of Outer Harbor land for $1 in 1957.
Earlier this year, NFTA leadership announced they wanted to get out of the property management business and back to the business of planes, trains and buses. Last summer they put out a request for proposals to NY Parks, Erie County, The City of Buffalo and the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation. The state and county backed away from the table early in the process.
Monday at 4 p.m. was the deadline for proposals and the NFTA announced that they received one proposal by that deadline. it was a joint plan submitted by the ECHDC and the City of Buffalo.
Details of the proposal are not being made public until the NFTA board has a chance to review and discuss the plan. That will happen at their next meeting in January.
