BUFFALO, NY - When President Barack Obama takes the oath of office for his second term next week, two K-9 teams from the NFTA will be on duty not far away.
The transportation authority announced Tuesday two of its TSA-certified Explosive Detection teams will head to Washington next week for the inauguration.
The officers and their partners will work hand and hand with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority and the D.C. Metro Transit Police Department.
Officers Robert Bove and Cora with Officer David Capretto and Gino will leave for D.C. on Wednesday.
"I am extremely proud that our department will be represented during this high-profile event," said George Gast, Chief of the NFTA Police. "That we were considered speaks volumes about the capabilities and professionalism of our K-9 program and our officers."
The TSA National Canine Program will pick up the expenses related to the teams' trip. It's the second time since 2008 that the NFTA Police has sent a team to the inauguration.
