A Rochester Police Officer has shot a man on the third floor of the Cooper Union building downtown this afternoon, Rochester police Sgt. Justin Collins said.
At least four officers, three males and one female, were injured in the incident and are at Strong Memorial Hospital. Collins said all of the injuries, including to the suspect, are non-life threatening.
Police were called around 1:30 p.m. to 119 State St. to assist a court marshall with an eviction, Collins said. At some point, there was a confrontation. At least one officer fired his weapon. Multiple shots were fired.
Collins initially reported that the man police shot was armed, but in later comments said he wasn't willing to elaborate.
Few other details were immediately available.
Traffic is closed at State Street and Andrews Street, and northbound traffic is closed at State and Main.
