BUFFALO, N.Y. -- In response to New York's new gun control law that prohibits some "military-style" weapons from being sold, at least six gun manufacturers and distributors are now stopping sales to law enforcement agencies.

Olympic Arms made the announcement on its Facebook page, saying, "In short, Olympic Arms will no longer be doing business with the State of New York or any governmental entity or employee of such governmental entity within the State of New York - henceforth and until such legislation is repealed, and an apology made to the good people of the State of New York and the American people."

New York's gun law included an immediate ban on semi-automatic rifles, shotguns and pistols with "military-style features." Tom Spithaler, sales director with Olympic Arms, said that essentially outlawed all AR-15 rifles, the most popular of its kind in the country.

LaRue Tactical, York Arms, Templar Custom, Cheaper Than Dirt, and Extreme Fire Power all made similar announcements.

The impact from these companies is expected to be minimal, according to law enforcement agencies, because major gun manufacturers like Smith and Wesson, Colt and Remmington have not prohibited sales.
