BUFFALO, NY - The season for celebrating the Irish and everything green has begun. The annual Shamrock Run wound its way through the streets of the Old First Ward Saturday afternoon.
The race sold out with a record 5,500 runners signed up. And organizers made some changes for this year, including a 5k fun walk in addition to the traditional full 8k race. Also new for this year, all the registered runners received those popular Shamrock Run jackets.
And considering it's part of the season, runners were able to treat themselves with some corned beef and a cold one after the race.
This is the 35th year for the big event. All the money raised goes to the Old First Ward Community Association.
