PEMBROKE, NY - A man was sent to the hospital with minor injuries after his vehicle hit a utility pole which affected power to the Corfu and Darien Center areas.
The Genesee County Sheriff's Office tells 2 On Your Side that the accident happened around 1 a.m. Wednesday along the 900 block of Main Street.
It appears that the driver lost control of his vehicle after he swerved to miss a hitting a deer.
The driver crashed into a utility pole which carries 34,000 volt high tension power lines. Arching wires caused the top of the power pole to catch fire.
Firefighters were able rescued the man from the vehicle and an ambulance took him to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo.
National Grid tells us that around 722 customers were affected by the power outage.
