NIAGARA FALLS - An early morning fire on Woodlawn Avenue in Niagara Falls is under investigation.
According to the Niagara Falls Fire Department, a paper carrier saw smoke coming from a window of a home around 6:21 in the morning.
Police arrived first and kicked in the door to search the home before firefighters arrived a few minutes later.
Firefighters found the body of a 96-year-old woman in a second floor bedroom. She was the only person in the home.
Fire department is still looking into the cause of the fire. The name of the woman is not being released until further notification of family.
