BUFFALO, NY - Special Spaces is a local organization made up of volunteers who work tirelessly to remodel bedrooms of sick children.
What they do is amazing, but they need help.
For the children, it is a safe, comfortable and fun place to be and it means a great deal.
Lynn Weber started the local chapter of Special Spaces after watching television and seeing volunteers make over the bedroom of a five year old suffering from cancer. It meant so much to that family and Lynn thought she could do it here as well.
So far Lynn has done eight makeovers for sick kids in our own community.
Her most recent makeover was for a 13-year old girl who moved here six months ago, along with her family, to be close to Roswell Park. The family bought the house at an auction and it needed a lot of work.
Lynn decided to have her volunteers help make over the entire second floor. Alayah and her family could not believe what they saw when she came home after two days. The difference is amazing.
Nine-year old Julia is one of the other children who had her bedroom done. She loves dogs and the room is made up of dogs, dogs and more dogs! It meant the world to Julia and her family.
Of course, they can't do it alone. They need volunteers and donations. You can find more information on the Special Spaces Buffalo facebook page or by heading to Special Spaces Buffalo.
