Former Niagara Falls Building Commissioner Guy Bax,66, leaves US District Court after pleadign guilty to corruption charges
BUFFALO, NY - The former acting Building Commissioner for Niagara Falls will not see any jail time thanks to his plea on a corruption charge that could have landed him behind bars for a maximum of 10 years.
U.S. District Court Judge Richard Arcara Friday sentenced Guy Bax, 66, of Niagara Falls, to two years probation.
Back in January, Bax admitted to accepting various items of value in return for steering city business towards John Gross and his company, David Gross Contracting.
Judge Arcara cited Bax's cooperation with the FBI and the fact that the value of the gratuities sent his way amounted to only a few thousand dollars in granting the lenient sentence.
John Gross remains behind bars serving a 33-month prison term for mail fraud and filing a false tax return.
