ALBANY, N.Y. -- It was animal advocacy day at the state capitol and a local celebrity pup was front and center.
Phoenix-- the Jack Russell Terrier who was badly burned last year when he was set on fire -- was in Albany to highlight animal abuse.
We also found out who Phoenix's new owner will be.
More than a hundred families applied to adopt him, but in the end: the Buffalo Animal Shelter said it was best that he stay with his foster mom Judi.
Doctors say his recovery has been going well.
According to the shelter's Facebook page: Phoenix will become a therapy dog and work as an ambassador for the shelter and an advocate against animal abuse.
