BUFFALO, NY - Buffalo firefighters responded to a two alarm blaze in a four story apartment building on the corner of Elmwood and Allen late Monday afternoon.
The fire originated in a second floor apartment.
The flames were contained to that residence and the immediate hallway, but additional smoke and water damage brought the total to $150,000 to the building itself as well as $50,000 to the structure's contents.
The good news however is that due to the efforts of the firefighters most residents will not be adversely affected.
The amount of floors in the building and its location proved to be a challenge to the city crews, and one firefighter was taken to a local hospital with a back injury which is not considered to be life-threatening.
While the apartment may have been vacant, which would raise suspicions, no particular cause has been determined at this time.
