BUFFALO, NY-- A Buffalo woman seriously hurt in a car accident in Georgia needed help to get her two children home, and a local volunteer group helped make that happen.

"Wings Flights of Hope" normally flies people who need medical treatment free of charge, but they made what's called a 'compassion flight' to bring a four and six year old to Buffalo to be with relatives.

By coincidence, a volunteer pilot was already in Atlanta and he called the Georgia Angel Flight office to see if he could help out with any northern-bound flight.

At first they said no, but then just five minutes later, his phone rang.

"The mission coordinator for Angel Flight Georgia called me with goosebumps," said Wings Flights of Hope volunteer pilot Joe DeMarco.

"She said, 'you're not going to believe this, but I have to get two children to Buffalo'. Here they are.  They're back in Buffalo.  It all seems to work out," added DeMarco.

The two kids are home safely with family now in time for the start of the school year.

Wings Flights of Hope does about 500 flights per year, and there is never a charge.  They are however having a major Wings Flights of Hope fundraiser on September 14th to raise funds to help cover their annual expenses.
