Buffalo, NY - It's not the way they wanted to start a new school year.
Teachers in the Buffalo Public School District received their teacher evaluation scores in the mail this week from the state education department, and overall the news was not good.
The president of the teacher's union says the evaluations do not make sense... because teachers who scored well in the classroom did not necessarily score well overall.
Buffalo Teachers Federation President Phil Rumore says, "This is just like a body blow. Here you are starting the new school year all enthusiastic about starting and then these scores come in, which have absolutely nothing to do with reality, especially when you know you maxed out the classroom evaluation."
The union plans to fight the evaluations on a statewide basis.
