BUFFALO, NY - A Buffalo firefighter was taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment of a facial cut after a fire broke out at a vacant store Saturday night.

It happened just after 11:30 p.m. on Genesee Street near Colorado Street on Buffalo's East Side.

The fire spread quickly to apartments on the second floor. Firefighters had to try to put out the fire from outside, after first trying to get in. That's when one of the fireman was hurt.

"I guess he's alright," said Division Chief Don McFeely of the Buffalo Fire Department, "but some glass when they're breaking the windows popped up and hit the front of his cheek."

The fire caused an estimated $50,000 to $70, 000 in damages. Fire investigators are still looking into what caused that fire to start.
