OAKFIELD, NY - Five people are in area hospitals following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Lewiston and Albion roads that happened at about 1 p.m. Sunday.

A nine-year-old girl riding in a car that was driven by her mother was taken by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester as a result of the crash. Her mother, Christine A. Davis, 33, of Corfu, was also taken to Strong, by ambulance. Three passengers in the other vehicle, a pick-up truck, were taken by ambulance to United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

The car driven by the mother was traveling south on Lewiston Road and making a left-hand turn onto Albion Road when it was struck by the pick-up truck in the front right fender and passenger-side front door.

According to a police report released by the Genesee County Sheriff's Office, the car failed to yield for the pick-up truck, which was heading north on Lewiston Road.
