BUFFALO, NY-- Nine teenagers accused of beating a man in Shoshone Park, which was caught on video, have plead guilty.
Homer Barney, 17, Damari Phillips, 17, Quashaun Moore, 17, Edward Magby IV, 18, Darvin Whitely, 17, and Jaquan Woodard, 19, as well as three juvenile defendants, plead guilty to Assault in the Second Degree.
There was not enough evidence to charge a tenth teenager who was arrested with the rest of the young people.
They nine teens are accused of beating James LeGrand, 66, when LeGrand tried to break up a fight between two students who attend Bennett High School. LeGrand was at work in the park as part of the Mayor's Impact Team.
These defendants face up to seven years in state prison when sentenced on January 15, 2014.
The juveniles will be sentenced by an Erie County Family Court judge face up to eighteen months placement in a juvenile delinquent facility.
Erie County's District Attorney praised his assistances Danielle Soluri and Paul Parisi for their work on this case.
