Sacramento, CA (Sports Network) - Charles Odum scored a career-high 38 points
as the Portland State Vikings held on to defeat the Sacramento State Hornets
94-88 in Big Sky Conference action at The Nest.
Odum shot 11-of-16 from the floor, 5-of-8 from the three-point line, and 11-
of-12 from the foul line for Portland State (14-13, 8-6 Big Sky). Renado
Parker put up 19 points, Lateef McMullan netted 14, and Chehales Tapscott
added 11 for the Vikings, who have won four of five.
For Sacramento State (9-18, 4-11), John Dickson scored 26 points while Jackson
Carbajal and Dylan Garrity tallied 18 apiece. Garrity also dished out 13
assists and Joe Eberhard chipped in 12 points for the Hornets, who have lost
four in a row.
Both teams shot just over 48 percent from the field in the first half and
Portland State took a slim 38-37 lead into the break.
The teams spent most of the first part of the second stanza on the sea saw.
After Sacramento State took a 69-67 lead on an Eberhard three-pointer with
8:16 left, Portland State went on a 15-3 run to take an 82-72 advantage with
just under four minutes remaining. The Hornets would get no closer than five
points of the lead in the final minutes.
Portland State shot 53.6 percent for the game and Sacramento State wasn't far
behind at 50.8 percent.
