Waco, TX (Sports Network) - Cory Jefferson posted 25 points and 10 rebounds,
as the Baylor Bears earned an 86-79 overtime victory against the Texas
Longhorns in the Big 12 Conference opener for both teams at the Ferrell
Pierre Jackson added 24 points and six assists for the Bears (9-4, 1-0 Big
12), while Isaiah Austin finished with 18 points and 12 boards.
Javan Felix led all scorers with 26 points to go along with nine assists for
the Longhorns (8-6, 0-1), who have notched only one win outside of Austin on

The Bears held UT to 38.2-percent shooting from the floor in the first half,
as they went into the locker room with a 40-31 halftime lead, their largest
cushion of the game.
However, the Longhorns turned things around in the second half with a 51.6-
percent shooting effort while holding Baylor to 7-of-30 shooting (.233) to
Jefferson and Jackson took over in the extra session, as they accounted for 17
of Baylor's 18 points. Jefferson, who had 11 points in overtime, sank a pair
of free throws with 50 seconds remaining to break a 79-79 tie. Those free
throws ignited a 7-0 Bears' run to close out the contest.
Baylor overcame a 35.9-percent shooting effort from the floor by outscoring UT
at the foul line, 36-9. The Bears have now won seven of the last nine meetings
in the head-to-head series.
