Greeley, CO (Sports Network) - Tevin Svihovec scored a game-high 24 points as
he helped guide the Northern Colorado Bears to a 76-68 win over the Northern
Arizona Lumberjacks in Big Sky Conference play at Butler-Hancock Sports
Also scoring in double figures for the Bears (8-15, 6-9 Big Sky) were Derrick
Barden and Tate Unruh with 21 and 17 points, respectively, as the team won for
the second time in as many games.
The Lumberjacks (9-16, 6-9) were paced by Gabe Rogers who tallied 23 points,
followed by DeWayne Russell with 15 off the bench as the squad suffered a
second straight setback.
Both teams shot the ball well from the floor in the first half, NAU converting
52.2 percent and the Bears 55.6 percent, but the latter also knocked down 66.7
percent on the perimeter in order to take a 35-26 advantage at the break.
In the second half UNC again shot the ball well from the field (.565) and
beyond the arc (.571) giving the Bears enough of a push to earn the eight-
NAU shot 56.2 percent from the floor on the night, but at the same time the
team turned the ball over 23 times, leading to 23 points for the home team.
