Cedar Falls, IA (SportsNetwork.com) - Deon Mitchell and Seth Tuttle both
notched 20 points for the Northern Iowa Panthers, who took down the Evansville
Purple Aces, 95-81, in a Missouri Valley Conference clash at the McLeod
Matt Bohannon scored 19 points for the Panthers (11-10, 5-4 MVC), who returned
to the win column after losing in back-to-back games. Wes Washpun added 11
points for the hosts.
D.J. Balentine shot 10-of-19 from the field and 19-of-21 at the foul line for
a school-record 43 points for the Purple Aces (10-12, 3-6), who have lost
three of their last five. Blake Simmons was his only teammate in double
figures with 11 points.
The Purple Aces shot a confident 57.1 percent from the field in the opening
half and hit 8-of-10 from the free-throw line. At the other end, the Panthers
shot 55.2 percent, including 9-of-17 from 3-point range, to take a 54-43 lead
In the second half, the Aces again made a better percentage of field goals, at
45.5 percent to their opponent's 41.4 percent. The Panthers had their
