Des Moines, IA (SportsNetwork.com) - Richard Carter scored a game-high 23
points while dishing out 11 assists to lead the Drake Bulldogs to an 84-74
victory over the Missouri State Bears in Missouri Valley Conference action at
the Knapp Center.
For the Bulldogs (12-9, 3-6 MVC), Jordan Daniels added 22 points and Chris
Caird scored 18, as Drake snapped a seven-game losing streak to Missouri
Austin Ruder scored 21 points to lead the Bears (14-7, 4-5), while Ron Mvouika
finished with 13 and Jarmar Gulley chipped in with 12 points.
Drake was hot from the field to start the game, connecting on 51.9 percent of
its field goal tries in the first half, including 7-of-13 from 3-point range,
as it took a 38-25 lead at the break. Missouri State stayed close by making
46.2 percent of its shots from the field and 6-of-11 from beyond the arc in
After intermission, the Bulldogs continued to knock down their shots, hitting
on 53.8 percent from the field and a scorching 7-of-11 from deep. The Bears
attempted to keep pace, shooting an even better 54.2 percent from the field,
including 5-of-11 from 3-point distance. Trailing by three, 66-63, with just
over five minutes to play, Drake used an 11-0 run to take the lead for good
and pull away for the win.
The Bulldogs dominated on the boards, outrebounding the Bears, 34-16. Drake
drained a season-high 14 3-pointers at a 58.3 percent clip.
