Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Johnny O'Bryant III logged a double-double
with 25 points and 10 rebounds as the LSU Tigers defeated the Vanderbilt
Commodores 57-51 in a SEC tilt at Memorial Gymnasium.
Andre Stringer had 11 points for the Tigers (18-11, 9-8 SEC), who have won two
of their last three games.
Rod Odom scored 15 points on 4-of-18 shooting and Damian Jones added six
rebounds and four blocks for the Commodores (15-14, 7-10), who have lost three
Vanderbilt shot 40 percent from the field in the first half as it led 32-24 at
the break. LSU struggled and made just 26.7 percent of its field goal tries,
including 2-of-11 from 3-point range.
In the second period the Commodores went cold as they connected on just
20.7 percent of their field goal attempts, including 3-of-15 from beyond the
arc. They managed to scored just 19 points in the frame. With 3:22 left, the
Tigers tied the game at 49-49. From that point LSU went on an 8-2 run to close
out the game and seal the come from behind win.
LSU played better inside as it outscored Vanderbilt 26-16 in the paint.
