Class AA South
Orchard Park (2-0): The Quakers have played like state champion contenders by dominating Clarence in every phase of the game. Key players are Ben Holmes, Austin Goltz, and Mitch Wilson. The line is led by Mike Senn, Connor Eday, and Chris Sanfilippo. Bobby Akinyele is leading the defense. They are favorable to win the sectional title and therefore compete for a state title.
Jamestown (2-0): The Red Raiders wins have come in non-league games with Kenmore West and Niagara Falls. QB Jacob Sisson, a transfer from Arkansas, is playing very well along with Daquan Hollingsworth, John Czech, and Zack Ecklemare leading the Red Raiders. They will be better when Cortland Haines returns to the line up. My prediction is that they will make the playoffs. They host Jamestown in week 6 and play at Clarence in week 7.
West Seneca West (2-0): Joe Cantafio has his Indians playing hard, becoming the league's surprise team. They have been dominating both opponents and rushing for 791 yards. Peter Walsh, Chris Walker, Kevin Reynolds, Devan Leo, Dakota Farr, and Matt Wheelock are leading the Indians. they may have locked up a playoff berth for the first time in several years.
Clarence (1-1): The Red Devils had a huge victory over West Genesee in their first game. Mark Armstrong, Emaure Williams, and Alec Dietsch have led Mark Layers squad to victory. They were dominated by Orchard Park, particularly on the line which paved the way for the Quakers victory. I predict they will make the playoffs and that Alec Dietsch will be an All-WNY candidate at LB.
Lancaster (1-1): The Redskins had a good win over Niagara falls but came down to reality against West Seneca West. Kevin Cola Franceschi is playing well at QB. They host Jamestown on Friday. They could have trouble making the playoffs this year.
Frontier (1-1): The Falcons rebounded after a loss to the Indians with a convincing win over Riverside. Nick King is an All-WNY candidate at LB. they have a young squad and play a tough schedule with Clarence, Orchard Park, and Jamestown in the next 3 weeks.
Projected Finish:
1. Orchard Park
2. Jamestown
3. West Seneca West
4. Clarence
5. Lancaster
6. Frontier
MVP Offense:
Mitch Wilson, Orchard Park
Ben Holmes, Orchard Park
Austin Goltz, Orchard Park
MVP Defense:
Connor Eady, Orchard Park
Alec Dietsch, Clarence
Chris Sanflippo, Orchard Park
Class AA North:
Teams have a record of 2-8 in the first two weeks.
Lockport (1-1): The Lions had a good win against Starpoint after having played a good game against the Quakers. RB James Chambers should break the 1000 yard rushing mark this season. They have an excellent chance to win league title. They play Niagara Falls and Kenmore West in weeks 4 and 5.
Kenmore West (1-1): The Blue Devils have always been competitive. They host Sweet Home this week. Alex Grive is a solid running back. They should make the playoffs.
Niagara Falls (0-2): The Wolverines suffered a huge loss with star RB K'Shawn Sistrunk being declared academically ineligible. They should make the playoffs but Ricky Bailey needs to lead and play better.
Hutch-Tech (0-2): The Engineers lost 2 tough games but they should make the playoffs beating out Riverside.
Riverside (0-2): The Frontiers have lost 10 consecutive games and continue to struggle.
Projected Finish:
1. Lockport
2. Kenmore West
3. Hutch Tech
4. Niagara Falls
5. Riverside
Offense: James Chambers, Lockport
Defense: Moziah Townsend, Lockport
