In a stunning upset, Aquinas defeated Rush-Henrietta, the number one ranked team in the state Class AA Poll 21-13 in a Section V Semi-final game.
Orchard Park last season defeated the Royal Comets in the State Regional Playoffs and the Quakers went on to win the State Title. Coming into the playoffs, Rush-Henrietta was considered the favorite in Section VI Class AA and during the season was 8-0 and averaged 36 points a game.
Aquinas, which has won 5 State Titles, moved up to Class AA this year. The Little Irish is 6-3, which includes losses to St. Joe's and Canisius.
The Little Irish will play Pittsford for the Sectional Title this weekend.
The Panthers defeated Hilton 29-28, winning on the last play of the game on a 2-pt. conversion. Pittsford is ranked #14 in the State Class AA Poll with an 8-1 record. The winner will play the winner of the Orchard park vs. Jamestown game at All-High Stadium on Saturday, November 10th.
