Class B
Eden at Cheektowaga Fri., 7:00pm
Medina at Alden Fri., 7:00pm
Pioneer at Burgard Sat., 2:30pm
Bennett at Depew Fri., 7:30pm
Major Impact Player:
Brian Stoldt, Alden
Strength of Warriors is defense and running game sparked by Gibson and Summers. Passing game has not been a factor who rely on the dynamic duo.
Never underestimate Chuck Tilley's Raiders, particularly with talent like Alex Smith and Devin Shaw. Warriors defense should prevail.
Medina las beat Alden in 2007 but have weapons in Hellwig, Barna, and Brown. Played Burgard tough first half but Bulldogs dominated in the second half. Alden has won 37th consecutive games against Section VI opponents and finished unbeaten in the regular season for 4 consecutive years. Bulldogs are the "cardiac kids" or the comeback specialists. Playoff experience will count in this matchup and edge goes to Alden with Brian Stoldt at the helm.
Burgard has only given up 27 points all season and Pioneer is pretty one dimensional with the run. Panthers have impact players in Bliss, Dell, Merlau, and Mummery but don't think they match up well with the Bulldogs and Rayshawn Jones.
Bennett/Depew game is a tossup. Tigers have come on strong and are clicking on all cylinders led by Dixon and McDuffie. Wildcats have to regroup after the shutout loss to Lancaster and losing Turner to an injury. Must have good game from Dylan Sekuterski and Anthony Buono if he plays. Bennett needs to avoid penalties and turnovers.
