Pennsylvania Leads in NCAA Division III Football Programs

There are 239 colleges playing at the Division III level (NCAA)

Pennsylvania has the most programs with 24, followed by Ohio with 20, Massachusetts with 20, Illinois with 19, Wisconsin with 18, and New York with 17.

Interesting note: Florida has no programs at the Division III level, while Louisiana and Georgia each have one.

There are currently 312 American and Canadian Colleges and Universities classified as Division II for NCAA competition.

A total of 127 teams play Division I FCS football. From 1978 through 2005, the League was known as Division I-AA. All Leagues offer scholarships with the exception of the Ivy and Pioneer. The FCS schools are limited to financial assistance, amounting to 63 full scholarships.

A total of 125 programs participate in the FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision). The programs are allowed to provide scholarship aid to a total of 85 players.
