( - A home run barrage and seven shutout innings from spot starter Paulo Espino helped the Columbus Clippers top the Bisons, 5-5, avoiding a four-game sweep Tuesday night at Huntington Park.

Buffalo managed just two hits, but Jordany Valdespin continued his hot streak with a third-inning double, his fifth with Buffalo.

On the series, Valdespin went 6-for-18 with four runs, seven RBI, a home run and two doubles.

Pat Misch (7-9) pitched into the seventh with a 2-0 deficit, but a two-run homer by Cord Phelps took away Misch's bid for an 11th quality start.

Misch allowed four earned runs on five hits over 6 2/3 innings with four walks and three strikeouts.

Espino started in place of scheduled starter Zach McAllister, who Cleveland called up before the game for his second major league start.

He allowed Buffalo's only two hits on the night with no runs over seven complete innings with seven strikeouts and no walks.

Jared Goedert homered for the second consecutive day and third time in the series, giving the Clippers a first-inning 1-0 lead over starter Pat Misch.

A second solo shot, by Jerad Head, doubled the Columbus lead in the fourth.

Perfect eighth and ninth innings by relievers Luke Hagadone and Josh Judy, respectively, sealed the Columbus win.
