Kevin Oklobzija - Blog entry 8/30 - Rochester Democrat and Chronicle:
I wrote as definitively as possible last week - without giving away secrets - that Chadd Cassidy and Jay McKee would be the assistant coaches for the Rochester Americans.
The parent Buffalo Sabres will announce their AHL assistant coaches for Rochester at an 11 a.m. news conference on Wednesday, but USAHockey has already done the honors with Cassidy.
In announcing that Nick Fohr's has been hired as one of the assistant coaches for the National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor, USAHockey says he is replacing "Chadd Cassidy, who left to become an assistant coach with the American Hockey League's Rochester Americans after five seasons at the NTDP."
This would appear to be a very good staff. All are new to coaching at the pro level, but head coach Ron Rolston has been teaching young prospects (17- and 18-year-olds) with the NTDP fro five years. He coached at the Division I college level as an assistant with three programs before that. Cassidy was his assistant the past five years, and McKee played 13 seasons on defense in the NHL.
