Buffalo native and former Syracuse star wide receiver Mike Williams says he "didn't quit' the Orange football team this past fall and is eager to prove he is ready to play in the NFL.
Williams spoke to the media on Saturday at the NFL combine in Indianapolis.
Williams had a mysterious departure from the Syracuse football team this past November. Williams did not offer any specific details about his exit from the program but says he addressed it with NFL teams. "I told the teams that and all the teams know the whole story and I just want to leave it at that, I don't want to make it a big media thing going back and forth, but I didn't quit so I just want everybody to know I didn't quit.''
Williams is listed at 6'2 and 220 pounds and is expected to test well at the combine. He believes he's ready to compete in the NFL. "I think I'm ready to play at the next level. I think I can compete out there, but it's hard to tell. The biggest adjustment is going against corners who have the same talent as me and adjusting to that speed."
